Access by External Entities to Institute
Information Technology Resources Policy
11/3/93

All use of Georgia Institute of Technology's computing resources for other than official Institute related purposes must comply with the following procedure.

All users must understand and comply with the Georgia Institute of Technology's Computer and Network Usage Policy.

Non-profit organizations or other external entities having an executed contractual agreement with Georgia Institute of Technology may access appropriate campus resources.

All requests from outside entities for an agreement to use computing resources should be submitted, in writing, in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This MOU should be addressed to the Office of Information Technology (OIT), Director of Client Services, and should include the following:

OIT staff will review all requests and determine the appropriate Institute organization(s) to determine the availability of the requested resources. The request will be acknowledged, logged and forwarded to that department.

If the request is for OIT computing resources, the OIT staff will determine if the project is appropriate for the use of Institute resources and if those resources are available. The appropriate recommendation will be made to the Executive Director of Information Technology (EDIT) and, if approved by the EDIT, the request will be sent to the Office of Contract Administration (OCA) for approval.

If the request is for other than OIT computing resources, the appropriate organization will approve or deny the request, notify OIT, and submit all approved requests to OCA for approval.

The submitting organization will be notified by OCA upon completion of the contract. The organization which will provide the services will notify the requester with account and access information.
